Dental emergencies are terrifying to handle on their own. But with the help of a dentist, the pain and damage can be decreased before it gets out of hand. There are two common types of dental emergencies that are typically categorized as trauma or pain emergencies. When you have dental pain or trauma it is important to seek medical attention, but sometimes it can be hard to determine when this trauma or pain is critical and requires emergency care.
What is dental trauma? Injuries to the teeth,mouth and gums are commonly referred to as dental trauma. This may be in the form of a penetrating or blunt force injury, and may leave abrasions or lacerations in your mouth. They can occur when you suffer damage to your teeth, lips, gums or mouth through an injury or trauma.
